organophosphate pesticide in Beagle dogs
نویسنده
چکیده
Organophosphate compounds, which are potent irreversible inhibitors of carboxylic esterases, including cholinesterase, have been extensively used as pesticides throughout the world, and many unfortunate incidents of acute intoxication have been reported (Grob and Harvey, I953; Goldman and Teitel, I958; Healy, 1959; Dinman, I964; Quinby, I964; Crowley and Johns, I966; DePalma, Kwalick, and Zukerberg, 1970; Namba, Greenfield, and Grob, 1970; Ishikawa, 1973a). Eye symptoms include spasm of the ciliary muscle and constriction of the pupil (Namba, Nolte, Jackrel, and Grob, 197I). Recent evidence of chronic intoxication (Namba and others, 1971; Ishikawa, I97I) due to environmental exposure to the compounds has also indicated a severe effect on refraction, i.e. permanent myopia (Ishikawa and Ohto, 1973). In the present investigation, ultrastructural changes in the ciliary muscle in Beagle dogs treated by long-term oral administration of the organophosphate compound (Ethylthiometon) have been studied. Refractive change was also recorded. The data were compared with normal controls. Ultrastructural changes in the ciliary muscles as well as the development of myopia seemed to be related to the dosage of Ethylthiometon.

Histopathological study of canine optic nerve retina treated by organophosphate pesticide.
The fine structure of pathological changes was examined in the optic nerve and retina of beagle dogs after oral administration by capsule of the organophosphate pesticide ethylthiometon for 2 years. The optic nerve was invariably affected, and the number of myelinated axons markedly reduced. These were substituted for by delicate processes of astrocytes. Changes in the retina were mild and main...

A New Model to Describe the Single-dose Pharmacokinetics of Bevacizumab and Predict Its Multiple-Dose Pharmacokinetics in Beagle Dogs
Complex pharmacokinetic (PK) properties including nonlinear elimination were encountered by some monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), and classic compartment models sometimes failed to appropriately describe those properties. In this work, a new model was built on a comprehensive analysis of the complex elimination of mAbs. This new model was firstly utilized to fit with the single-dose plasma concent...
متن کاملToxicological Effects of Organophosphate Pesticide on Ceolomocytes Viability of Earthworm E. Foetida Using NRRA
Background: In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the development of sub-lethal earthworm biomarkers as they are relevant indicators of environmental change and they are among the five key indicators for ecotoxicological testing of industrial chemicals determined by the OECD. In the present study, the effects of an organophosphate pesticide dichlorovos on lysosomes of coelomoc...

Background & Aims of the Study: Serum paraoxonase (PON1) is a potent antioxidant that is associated with the pathogenesis of several diseases. Also, it is reported that environmental factors can modulate the PON1 activity. In this study, the association between the Organophosphates (OP) exposure and plasma Paraoxonase/Arylesterase (PON1) activity and also OP-induced oxidative stress was investi...
